IT Strategy Teams

What You’ll Gain from This Course

After three days you will be able to:

✔ Understand how AI evolved and where it is heading in 2026 and beyond

✔ Distinguish the types of AI — narrow, generative, agentic, deterministic — and know which is right for which problem

✔ Describe the training and inferencing architectures required, including local and open-source options

✔ Evaluate and select models from commercial and open-source environments (including Hugging Face)

✔ Understand agentic AI, context management, and agentic engineering — and the architectures that support them

✔ Integrate AI into your application landscape and customer-facing products effectively

✔ Assess your organisation's AI maturity and plan a roadmap for rapid improvement

✔ Plan for governance, risk, and responsible AI in a corporate context

✔ Experience generating an application, including intent, requirement, model generation and adjustment, test specification and deployment

✔ Use AI tools personally — for research, strategy, slides, code and more — from day one

This is probably the fastest, least painful, and most immediately applicable way to build genuine AI capability across your leadership and architecture teams.

Content and Structure

The workshop combines live TED-style lectures with eight substantial hands-on assignments.

Every concept is immediately applied.

Sessions are recorded; supporting notes, slides and references are provided.

Delivery is product-agnostic — examples are drawn from the most capable and widely-used commercial and open-source tools available.

Core Topics

History, Significant Developments & The 2026 Landscape

Theory, algorithms, models, products and industry applications. Where we are now — and the waves of change coming in the next 18 months.

Types of AI — Strengths, Weaknesses & Applications

Narrow vs General AI; task-specific AI; deep learning; generative AI; RAG; agentic AI; hierarchical, semantic and deterministic AI. What each is suited for — and where each falls short.

Training & Inferencing Architectures

Data preparation and pipelines; GPU clusters; distributed training; human guidance and Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). Inferencing infrastructure including cloud, on-premises and local/edge options. Open-source model deployment. Commercial offerings and their trade-offs.

Agentic AI, Context Management & Agentic Engineering

What agentic AI is, how it works, and how to architect for it. Context windows, memory, retrieval and orchestration. MCP (Model Context Protocol), N8N and workflow integration. Guardrails and fine-tuning. The architectures that enable autonomous AI in production.

Integration into Application Landscapes & Customer-Facing Products

Integration patterns, APIs, AI operating systems. Embedding AI in existing enterprise systems. Architecture of customer-facing AI products. Solution architecture patterns for 2026.

AI Maturity, Governance, Risk & Amelioration

Assessing organisational AI maturity. Planning rapid improvement. Risk identification and mitigation. Responsible AI frameworks. Governance models for enterprise-scale deployment.

Synthesis, Action Planning & Enterprise Integration

Personal AI roadmap. Enterprise AI readiness canvas. Integrating AI into Business and IT Architecture. Preparing your organisation for the next wave.

8 Hands-On Assignments

Each assignment is practical, guided and immediately applicable. Participants use real tools and leave with working outputs, not just exercise sheets.

01
Personal AI Assistant
Use an AI assistant to generate a research summary, a set of slides, and a poster — exploring prompt design, context and output quality.
02
LLM as Virtual Board & Strategic Advisor
Use a large language model to stress-test a strategic proposal — simulating board-level challenge, scenario planning and gap analysis.
03
Finding & Evaluating Models on Hugging Face
Navigate the Hugging Face model hub to identify, compare and select appropriate models for a defined use case.
04
Code Generation in a Code Assistant
Use an AI code assistant to generate, test and refine code — experiencing agentic coding firsthand and exploring its limits.
05
AI Maturity Assessment
Assess the AI maturity of your own organisation using a structured model and identify priority areas for rapid improvement.
06
Integrating AI into Business & IT Architecture
Map AI capabilities into an enterprise architecture context — identifying touchpoints, dependencies and integration patterns.
07
Governance, Risk & Amelioration
Apply a governance framework to a real AI deployment scenario — identifying risks and designing appropriate controls.
08
Enterprise AI Readiness Canvas
Synthesise the workshop into a personal action plan and enterprise readiness canvas, ready to take back to your organisation.
